Things I've wanted to write about:
1. This whole idea of an "unspecified al-Qaeda threat" being reason for warning people off flights to Europe. Really US State Department? Isn't that rather like saying: there *might* be a storm so don't fly.
2. This. I'm not sure whether to squee in joy or tremble in worry.
3. The continued lack of internet at my home. My research into actually getting a service I'm not committed to (i.e. don't have to have a yearlong--or longer--contract) apparently is indicative of how I live my life. I'm still unsure why the whole idea of being tied to a contract freaks me out. But it does. So the lack of internet continues.
4. Men wearing white cotton or linen trousers. They really shouldn't be allowed. I shouldn't have to provide reasons why.
5. The motivations and commitment of people who drove across (or halfway across) the country to rally for workers' rights in the One Nation march yesterday. I was there and was feeling rather uncomfortable since a) I have a rather cushy job (well, for the year I have it), b) I'm definitely not American (and it was surprising how few Asian people, in general, I saw at the rally. There were whites/blacks/hispanics but very few Asians. At least in my observational area) and c) "One Nation" has very specific connotations in my mind, based on my undergrad experiences.
But, hey, see no. 3. Also, I'm behind in deadlines for two articles (both to be published fairly soon. Hurrah) and in grading so you won't get to read in more detail about any of these. I need to get working on actually acquiring working internet at home.
